What can you remember from the story?
1. What did Susie say a virus was on page 8 of the story?
2. Also on page 8, Susie introduced a new rule - What was this rule?
3. Look at page 12 - Why were people asked to stay at home if they could?
4. In the story everybody worked together to support each other - Why do you think
Nanny Dot needed extra help to stay safe?
5. Look at the picture on page 15 - How did Ricky the greengrocer help people to stay safe?
6. On page 16 we learnt that the children were allowed to go for walks and ride their
bikes – What other activities or games could they do outside?
7. Why did the scientists and doctors call the virus a ‘pandemic’?
8. At the end of the story what was Susie’s surprise?
Things to keep you busy and safe during the pandemic:
• Can you make up your own hand washing song?
• It’s good to talk to someone if you are worried about something like a pandemic.
Take a piece of paper, and draw yourself in the middle and all around you draw
pictures of the people you can talk to when you are worried, e.g. your grown-ups,
friends and teachers.
• How about making your own cupcakes at home, safely with the grownups, like Maya’s
Nanny Cupcake... What flavour will yours be?
• Can you find out what other jobs are done by Key Workers?
