“Oh dear,” thought Kit and Lydia. “No one seems to
care about our birthday.” They felt sad and went into the
garden to look at the tortoises.
Meanwhile, in the kitchen Susie was busy making them a
surprise birthday cake. Murph giggled as Susie stirred the
chocolate mixture.
“What a surprise Kit and Lydia will have tomorrow,”
she said.
“Can we help?” asked the boys as they joined Murph and
Susie in the kitchen.
“A birthday cake will need candles,” said Sanjay as he
rummaged in the odds and ends drawer.
