“Can we swim?” asked Daniel.
“Just paddle in the shallow water for now and stay between the two
safe water flags,” suggested Susie.
”After lunch, when the sun isn’t as hot, you can go for a swim and try
out your body board. The tide will be on its way back in then.”
The children knew to stay in sight and not wander off, so Susie felt
relaxed as she sat on a towel drinking a nice cold bottle of juice.
Minutes later her peace was shattered as all of the boys came running
back up the beach shouting.
“Susie, Susie, there’s a dog swimming in the water!”
“A dog?” asked Susie
“He must be lost as dogs aren’t allowed on the beach during the
summer – you said so” added Kit in a worried voice.
“Looks like a black labrador, and he could be stuck in the tide unable
to get back to shore” added Daniel, in an even more worried voice.
