By the time school finished the weather was even worse. The wind was now so
strong that it turned Susie’s umbrella inside out. Two of the fences by the village
hall had been blown down and Ricky the Greengrocer was trying his best to make
the other fence panels safe.
“Looks like we’re in for a bit of a storm, baton down the hatches,” chuckled Ricky
as he moved the Queens Jubilee memorial bench safely inside the hall.
“Yes I heard on the radio, people are being advised to stay indoors if possible,”
agreed Susie. The children battled against the weather all the way back to Susie’s.
Murph, Susie’s daughter arrived home shortly after announcing that there had
been a mini tornado. It was very near the beach where Susie kept her beach hut.
“Imagine that - a tornado, in our country, like the one in The Wizard of Oz”
she told the children.
“I hope it didn’t lift Susie’s beach hut like Dorothy’s house in the story” exclaimed
Sanjay.
