Normally Susie the childminder looked after five children; Daniel, Nathan, Sanjay
and the twins Kit and Lydia. Today however she was looking after four Greek Gods
and Persephone the Goddess of Spring. The children had been learning about
ancient Greece and today was going to be dressing up day. Daniel was Poseidon,
god of the sea, Nathan was Ares, god of war, Sanjay was Apollo, god of music and
Kit was Zeus, king of all the gods.
“Don’t you all look splendid” remarked Susie as she tried to hurry the excited
children out of the door.
“I am Zeus- king of the gods, lord of the sky, god of thunder” announced Kit. He
was waving his cardboard thunder bolt rather more like a Harry Potter wand than
a weapon that could wreak havoc down on ancient Greece.
“Come on, if we get a wiggle on we might just miss the rain,” interrupted Susie.
“I am also known as the rain god” continued Kit.
“That’s as may be, said Susie kindly but we need to leave now, just look at those
dark clouds.”
