Susie and the children did just manage to dodge the rain, however as soon as Susie
arrived home the rain came and thunder rumbled in the distance.
Susie decided to pop in and check on Nanny Dot next door. Nanny Dot answered
the door looking flustered.
“Thank goodness you’re here, I’m a bit concerned about this weather it seems
to be interfering with my electricity and I was just about to phone the electricity
company.”
“Let me come in and check, mines still on” said Susie. There was indeed a problem
with Nanny Dot’s electricity, but it wasn’t the weather. As a safety precaution a
house is fitted with a mains trip switch which turns everything off and should only
be operated by an adult. Susie found the fuse box under the stairs and reset the
main trip switch and the lights came back on.
“No need to call the electricity emergency number just yet”, she said smiling.
“You might have had too many appliances on at once, or are you overloading those
sockets again?” she asked kindly. “Not since I had my Safe and Well Visit” said
nanny Dot convincingly, “Now I have electricity - Shall I make us some tea?”
